The Well has 3 areas we would like to see God spur us to have a Gospel impact. Jesus’ impact was greatly felt in the educational system, as he challenged the religious and academic minds. His desire that the hungry be fed and the homeless be housed show us a great example. Finally, Jesus’ impact on the marketplace was often rocky as he sought to teach Godly principles to the men and women in commerce.
Statistic show that children who have positive experiences in their education have a higher rate of overall success in life, not just in professional settings but in their personal relationships. Students who have appropriate and positive relationships with at least 5 adults in their history have the highest rates of success.
We want to have tutoring programs, where students can achieve educationally and grow relationally. The Well will equip and resource believing teachers to live out the Gospel in their schools. These teachers and administrators will be front line soldiers in the spiritual war that rages in our schools ( both public and private)
Even a psychology major would agree that the basic needs of food, shelter, clothing are essential for the building of healthy relationships ( Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs). We want to be improving and helping provide the basic needs of our community by partnering with organizations already in place that repair or restore utilities, water, sewage, etc. We want to work with County Administrators to provide quality community programing in the small hamlets of our rural context. Having our Well family involved with these types of care missions will help further our ability to win, disciple and even plant.
Our building is more than a Sunday meeting place, it is a community gathering place with free access to Internet, a welcoming and safe atmosphere and we even have snacks and drinks available.
Our third GIA is economics. We want to encourage the local economy through patronage, good business practices, and recruiting economy boosting business to consider Nelson as their place of business. Being a Gospel witness to incoming and existing business owners and providing our spaces for business meetings, community business round tables, etc.
